The Raleigh Hotel, Miami Florida
Brittany and Jake met one fateful day on the warm sands of Dewey Beach, VA in 2013. There was this incredible spark between them that the world needed to take heed; their love was the crazy, beautifully passionate kind of love. Fast forward, to May 2016. Brittany and Jake had spent 3 years learning, loving, and growing together as a pair. They weren't the young lovers that met on the beach, but now the kind of lovers that enjoy their life together, with their PJs on, a glass of wine for Brittany and a whiskey for Jake, and their puppy Stella, who by the way is super adorbs.
Jake proposed to Brittany in their home state of Virginia (they aren't kidding about Virginia being for lovers!). He planned with their closest family and friends, and even had Brittany's engagement ring adorned with her grandmother's diamonds. It was the perfect setup: Have a tour of the vineyard at the Tuscarora Mills with the family and have dinner. Sounds easy, right? Our Brittany is a planner, and definitely gave Jake a run with keeping the proposal a secret. He was able to give Brittany the greatest surprise, and she said yes!
They set the date and the place: Miami Beach, FL on June 3rd 2017. They picked sunny Florida for their destination because they took many a vacation to our beautiful state, and wanted to start the next chapter of their lives where it had started, on warm sands with close friends. The Raleigh was a natural pick, it having all of the allure of Art Deco that South Beach is well known for, but has a vintage glam to it that is timeless.
When we talked with Brittany and Jake, much like their meeting, we were instantly friends. Glam dog moms with quiet, strong men for husbands? Yup, thats us! We got to meet with them the night before their wedding, and we had so much fun. We got to film Jake a day ahead and Dezi and Jake bonded over beard groom care and doggies, while Brittany and I gushed over her ring, the dress, and all things wedding.
Planning a Florida wedding can be tough, because Florida only has two settings: sunny or rainy. There really is no in-between! And when it rains, it RAINS. Sometimes, for a day or even weeks.
On the morning of their wedding, it was overcast all day. Weather forecasts had 50 percent chance of rain. As Floridians know, anything above 30 percent for rain, means its definitely going to rain. Plans were made to ensure the ceremony and reception locations would be covered, and everything was going according to plan. It's good luck for it to rain on your wedding day! Brittany and Jake remained beacons of positivity, because they knew that they were starting their lives together as husband and wife, and rain wasn't going to stop them.
Their ceremony was beautiful, with touching statements made by their officiant that Brittany has known since she was a child. There wasn't a dry eye anywhere, even with us as they exchanged vows.
And now, their wedding film is here. We are so thankful to Brittany and Jake, for sharing their wedding with us, and for being such incredible individuals. We are so grateful to call them friends.
